About
I am a Wellington-based therapist offering online and in-person sessions for young people, individuals, couples, and families. With a person-centered approach, I work to understand your unique perspective and support you in developing new insights and tools to navigate life’s challenges. You will find my approach to be warm, holistic, and constructive.
Background
I bring twenty years of experience working in mental health, trauma, addiction, and harmful behaviours. My background includes managing rehabilitation programs for the Department of Corrections in the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. I have established and managed university support services, implementing survivor-led restorative processes addressing sexual violence, and worked as a Senior Clinician in specialist services for young people. More recently, I have been managing the design and implementation of Aboriginal-led healing and recovery services in the Northern Territory of Australia for The National Centre for Action on Child Sexual Abuse. I'm currently a Senior Therapist at Whakamātūtū, a therapeutic community at the forefront of mental health recovery in Wellington, New Zealand, and Managing Director of Mossmans Consulting.
I am trained in a number of evidence-based modalities that I draw from to create a tailored therapeutic experience for each client. These include:
Narrative Therapy: Helps you re-author your life story to find new meaning and possibility.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Focuses on being present and committed to living a values-based life.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Helps you identify and change unhelpful thought patterns.
Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT): Assists in understanding and transforming emotional responses for individuals and couples.
I also have experience working collaboratively with Rongoā Māori and Australian Aboriginal practitioners supporting holistic "both-ways" healing.
